Parents and caregivers of children with learning disabilities and special needs are always looking for information and suggestions on ways to help their children achieve their best lives.

This pages contains resources provided by our CACSE members. These resources are not endorsed by CACSE or the St. Mary’s County Public School system, but are personal recommendations by parents of children with disabilities.

Early Intervention and Special Education Services

Offering coordinated services to children and students with disabilities, birth through 21, and their families with the goal of closing existing gaps between children with disabilities and their non-disabled peers. Our bold vision is that all students, including students with disabilities, will be ready for school, achieve in school, and be prepared for college, career, and community living.

Partners for Success

Partners for Success, a partnership between the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and the St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS), provides services designed to inform families and build working relationships among families, schools, and the community.

The services the Partners for Success center may provide include:

  • Special education resources
  • Information and referral
  • Assistance with IEPs
  • Seminars and workshops
  • Consultation
  • Lending library
  • Information about local state and parent organizations

The Parents’ Place offers a variety of programs and services to support families of children with disabilities and special health care needs. Serving as Maryland’s Parent Training and Information Center and Family-to-Family Health Information Center, Parents’ Place supports thousands of Maryland families each year. Parents’ Place, staffed primarily by parents who have faced these challenges, believes that experienced parents are a key source of knowledge and support to help other families become effective voices for their own children.
